Kids Need Ideas For Pretending (Imagination)?

Kids Need Ideas For Pretending (Imagination)?
How many times have you heard "Mom! We don't know what to play! We've played EVERYTHING." I know. I've been there myself. That's when you have to get creative and fast. Being that I've had to pull something out of the blue on more than one occasion, maybe some of my ideas can help you.

Play "Laugh School"- Have your kids imagine they are in a class room and teaching a fun-loving class where the main goal all day is to laugh. They allow their kids in the class to draw funny pictures or tell funny stories. Whatever it takes to give a good laugh! Points are awarded during the day for being the most comical. The great thing is, you'll find yourself laughing to!

* Mr. or Mrs. Zoo Keeper- With this make-believe fun time, even the stuffed animals get involved. Have your kids find all their meandering stuff animals. If they don't know what kind of animal one of them is, then decide ahead of time on an animal it can BE. Next look up different things about the animals- where they live, their habitat, what they eat, etc. Set them all up around the room, or wherever the "zoo" is. Make little cards that give information about each animal (or show pictures, for the younger kids) and put them on their pretend cages. The zoo keepers can take turns telling the visitors about their animals.

* The Time-Warp Machine- For this, you can just use sheets and block off a corner so it will become the machine/changing room. Have your kids select a number of articles for dress up. They can pretend they are in another country or even another planet. When they go into the time-warp machine, they change and when they come out they are in a different place. They can even whip out their accents if they want. This is so fun!

* Fancy Ball Time- So this one is definitely for the little women, but of course boys can join in too! Who else will the girls have to dance with! Get out the fancy dresses, shoes, make-up if you want and jewelry. It's ball time! Pretend you are hosting a fancy dinner before the ball and make something extra special for dinner. Allow the kids to come to the table all dressed up and remind them they have to use manners! Oh what fun!

* Pretend Cooking Class- Take out a bunch of pots, pans and utensils and decide on the theme. Perhaps a cake shop, taco place, whatever. Let the kids decide. They can make up menus for their dolls to come in and eat. They could use action figures too! They can cook and wait tables.

* I'd love to help you with more ideas. I love riddles and have had full parties with them based around a theme. That's one of my specialties! Have fun!
